A progressive exploration of the botanical heritage of the isle of Islay. This first and only Islay dry gin is a rare expression of the heart and soul of the remote Scottish island.
Foraged locally and responsibly by The Botanist's own professional forager. Foraging used to be all we knew. A key interaction between us and the dynamic world in which we learned how to live. Those instincts have gone to sleep in bland days of convenience and blasé consumption. Welcome to an invigorated spirit of inquiry, a sharpening of the eyes. With even the smallest step towards accepting wild, the general environment becomes personal. Any landscape becomes a foodscape.
The Botanist Gin is crafted from 22 hand-foraged local botanicals delicately augmenting 9 berries, barks, seeds and peels during an achingly slow distillation: Juniper, apple mint, chamomile, creeping thistle, downy birch, elder, gorse, hawthorn, heather, lady's bedstraw, lemon balm, meadowsweet, mugwort, red clover, spearmint, sweet cicely, bog myrtle, tansy, water mint, white clover, wild thyme, and wood sage.
