Banks 5 Island Rum Wins the Chairmanas Trophy at the Ultimate Cocktails Challenge

NEW YORK – For the second year in a row, Banks 5 Island Rum has been named the Best Rum for use in the classic Daiquiri cocktail, receiving the Chairman’s Trophy at the second annual Ultimate Cocktail Challenge (UCC), which took place April 5 to 8 in New York City. In addition, the brand also received the Chairman’s Trophy and awarded Best Rum for use in the Mojito – thereby taking two of the three Classic Cocktail Category Awards at the UCC.


Ultimate Beverage Challenge (UBC), a New York-based beverage competitions and events company, is led by F. Paul Pacult (Judging Chairman and founder) and Sean Ludford (Assistant Judging Chairman); judges included world-renowned mixology superstars Jacques Bezuidenhout, Dale DeGroff, Jim Meehan, gaz regan, Julie Reiner, Steve Olson, Audrey Saunders, Marcos Tello, David Wondrich and more.

Banks 5 Island Rum combines aged and unaged, pot and column-distilled rums including mature Trinidadian rum, aromatic Jamaican rum, grassy Guyanese rum, clean Barbados rum and Indonesian Batavia arrack to build layers of flavor. Launched in August 2010, the spirit won the Chairman’s Trophy Award in the Daiquiri category at the first Ultimate Cocktail Challenge in 2010.
