The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene shut down Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club because of several health-code violations a day after its star-studded $10 million relaunch. Among the violations: Perishable food inside the walk-in cooler was too warm (60EF instead of 41EF), "hot" food was left out on the counter and an employee was seen mixing salsa with his bare hands. The club addressed the violations and was allowed to reopen the following day.

Tiësto has forged an exclusive residency with Wynn Las Vegas daylife and nightclub venues Encore Beach Club, Surrender and XS nightclubs. With countless achievements, including a Grammy Award nomination, several MTV awards and a performance at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Tiësto, a.k.a. Tijs Verwest, is one of the most recognizable electronic artists worldwide. Tiësto recently announced his own Sirius XM channel and launched his “In The Booth” behind the scenes YouTube series. Additionally, he recently made social-media history when he performed the first live concert stream on Twitter from XS. Studio 54As Studio 54 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas prepares to close, a new fine dining and luxury nightlife concept that will open in the space in December. An Abu Dhabi property-investment company, Tasameem, is a partner in the venture and is the second Middle East group to be involved in Strip nightclub ventures. Angel Management Group, which also runs Wet Republic at MGM Grand, will convert Studio 54 into a lavish, multi-story nightclub.

Calling all DJs: Simon Cowell has announced that he and Jada Pinkett-Smith — along with the Fresh Prince's Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television — soon will launch a DJ talent show. Although the show will be yet another reality competition similar to Cowell's The X Factor, America's Got Talent, American Inventor and American Idol, Cowell insists he will not be sitting in the judge's chair this time around.
