Winston's Champagne BarProvocateur owners Brian Gefter and Michael Satsky opened up Winston’s Champagne Bar, with an elite list of high-end bubbly — more than 100 choices from 20 houses. Winston’s is conveniently located across from the twosome’s electronica club in the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan.

Months after Don Hill died and his nightclub of the same name closed, two former promoters are penning a screenplay inspired by the SoHo rock club. Lyle Derek and Noah Valentyn are working on “Dropout,” the name of their Sunday-night party. It’s supposed to be the “hilarious story of two inexperienced party promoters who attempt to save a dying club from the clutches of an evil corporate club queen who is the competition at another venue across the street,” Derek told the New York Post.

Blush nightclubBlush Boutique Nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas closed last week. Operator Sean Christie told us via a written statement, "I am incredibly proud of the success we've had at Blush over the past four years. As the city's first boutique nightclub, Blush provided an experience that offered an incredibly beautiful space with an unprecedented light and sound system. Blush was my first nightlife project with Mr. Wynn, and I look forward to growing our partnership in the future with exciting new opportunities.” The Wynn plans to announce what will be done with the space in the coming weeks.

The London nightclub Ministry of Sound is threatening to sue Southwark council if they go ahead with plans to allow two apartment complexes to be built a block from the club and opposite the club, respectively; the club's owners fear the addition of these residential buildings would lead to closing the 20-year-old club. Lawyers for Ministry of Sound are seeking to hold the Southwark council responsible if the club is forced out of business or if the club suffers any financial loss because of nuisance claims or noise complaints from residents. Ministry of Sound has been fighting Southwark for years about redevelopment plans.

Kaskade resident DJ at Marquee at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, took the top spot in the 2011 America’s Best DJ competition, sponsored by DJ Times magazine and Pioneer DJ. Winner of Nightclub & Bar’s Resident DJ of the Year Award, Kaskade will be honored Oct. 9 in Las Vegas.


San Francisco nightlife staple Harry Denton’s Starlight Room just got a facelift and reopened over Labor Day weekend, but it kept its 1930s glamour vibe in tact. The nightclub, atop the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, is visually different with bright red booths lining the wall, along with more crystal, gold and hand-rubbed silk drapery adorning the venue. Joel Teitelbaum, formerly of Zero Zero, is resurrecting the storied the bar, putting together a cocktail menu that consists of punches and Martinis — all twists on old classics.

Angel Mangement GroupAngel Management Group is ending its partnership with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, effective Nov. 1. Angel Management Group initially was hired on to improve operations and programming for Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club, REHAB pool party and Vanity Nightclub; the group will, however, continue to assume full operation of "Tiësto In Concert,” at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
