Vegas Declares "deadmau5 Day"

Mayor Carolyn Goodman has issued a proclamation officially declaring Jan. 2 “deadmau5 Day” in Las Vegas. This marks the date the electronic music DJ will launch his exclusive partnership with Wynn Las Vegas, debuting at XS nightclub during New Year’s Eve weekend and continuing with additional dates at both Encore Beach Club and XS through 2012.
“Throughout the past year, we have seen the masses journey to Las Vegas to experience electronic dance artists headlining in our nightclubs,” says Jesse Waits, co-owner and managing partner of XS and Tryst nightclubs. “The following for deadmau5 is phenomenal. I applaud Mayor Goodman for recognizing both his remarkable persona and his ability to drive visitor traffic from fans traveling across the globe to experience his live sets.”
“deadmau5 represents the cream of the crop in electronic dance music, a genre of music that has made a significant positive financial impact to the city in the past year,” says Sean Christie, co-owner and managing partner of Encore Beach Club and Surrender Nightclub.  “Mayor Goodman’s proclamation is a symbolic acknowledgement of this wildly popular entertainment form that has come to define the best in Las Vegas nightlife.”
The honor is a great addition to deadmau5’s list of accolades, including recently being nominated for three Grammy Awards. He is up for nods in the Best Dance/Electronica Album category for his critically acclaimed LP 4x4=12 and Best Dance Recording for “Raise Your Weapon” with Greta Svabo Bech. Also nominated is deadmau5’s remix of the Foo Fighters’ “Rope” in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category.
In 2009, deadmau5 was nominated for Best Remixed Recording at the Grammys and took home the Best Electro House Artist and Best Progressive House Artist at the Beatport Awards while being noted as the "most influential, relevant and forward-thinking person in electronic music over the past 12 months." His most celebrated award show appearance to date was rocking the stage at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards as the official house artist as he introduced his signature sound to TV viewers tuning in across the globe.
Tickets for the debut event at XS are available for pre-purchase now at Table reservations can be made by calling 702-770-0097.
