Steven Greenberg, king of New York rooftop bars, recently passed away at the age of 68 following a battle with lymphoma. The nightlife entrepreneur, owner of the palm-tree-filled rooftop lounge 230 Fifth in New York City, is a former partner of Ian Schrager and former co-owner of the Palladium, Roxy and the Gramercy Park Hotel. Says former friend and Nightclub & Bar Contributing Editor Steve Lewis, "I have lost someone who rarely said no to me, and when he did, the advice and lesson learned made that no a yes. His eyes lit up a room. Nightlife was a toy, a board game to him that never bored him and that he almost always won."

VuduMichael Bergos, owner of Vudu Lounge on New York's Upper East Side, faces a $7,500 fine for violating the city's gender-neutral hiring laws, according to the New York Post. The Human Rights Commission sent a man to apply for a position as a "door hostess," who reportedly was told that the Bergos wanted to hire a woman for the job.

“It was the most absurd thing in the world,” Bergos told The Post. “They’re wasting resources on this nonsense.”

It's time to get wet in Vegas! Wet Republic at MGM Grand is reopening its doors on March 9. Featuring reality TV favorite Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett, celebrated DJ Bob Sinclair, a special residency starring Sky Blu of LMFAO, the return of HOT 100 and the unveiling of a new weekly Sunday industry party, the dayclub kicks off the season with an action-packed opening line-up that will set the tone for what’s to come in 2012. Always evolving, the adults-only summer playground is set to exceed expectations as it prepares to celebrate its five-year anniversary.

Next up, Encore Beach Club, the award-winning adult pool destination located in Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, launches its 2012 season with a spring preview for guests beginning March 17. The upscale dayclub will be open on Saturdays and Sundays (except Easter) until the grand opening on Saturday, April 21. After opening ceremonies, sun seekers can enjoy the venue Friday through Sunday. The highly anticipated grand opening celebration features DJ sets by Size Matters artists Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia and AN21 on April 21. Tiësto debuts at Encore Beach Club on April 22 to launch the venue’s weekly “Daystar Sundays” promotion.
