Just two years after opening its doors, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing takes home five medals and is named Mid-Size Brewpub and Brewer of the Year at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF)—the nation’s largest and most prestigious domestic beer festival—held in Denver, CO.
With a growing culture of craft beer enthusiasts, this year’s GABF featured 745 breweries and 4,809 beers judged by a panelist of 201 beer experts from 11 different countries.
Named Mid-Size Brewpub and Mid-Size Brewpub Brewer of the Year, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing shares this win with its entire staff, loyal customers and the growing Southern California craft beer scene.
“We are thrilled and humbled by Beachwood’s awards at GABF. It is an honor to be recognized for both the beers and brewpub by our peers and colleagues within the beer industry,” says Beachwood Co-Owner and Brewer Julian Shrago. "We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to our customers and friends for their continued support and inspiration.”
Beachwood BBQ & Brewing along with Brewmaster and Co-owner Julian Shrago and Assistant Brewer Ian McCall took home the gold for Kilgore in the American-Style Stout category and Foam Top in the Golden or Blonde Ale. Udder Love received a silver medal in the Sweet Stout Category. Bronze medals were given to Barrel-Aged Full Malted Jacket in the Wood and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer category and for System of a Stout in the Coffee Beer category.
“What's been awesome is the response from all the people who have supported us from day one. It feels like we won this for all the people that have stood behind us and rooted us on,” says Co-Owner Gabriel Gordon. “These awards are for our own ego as much as they are for our customers and friends. We all have something to be really proud of!”
Last year Beachwood won a gold medal in the Sweet Stout category for Udder Love—which is now available in bottles—and took bronze in the French and Belgian style Saison category for El Verano. Most recently, Beachwood was named LA Weekly’s “Best L.A. Made IPA’s”.
