Chain Beverage Buzz: Nov. 15, 2010

John D. Bodnovich is the newly appointed Executive Director of American Beverage Licensees (ABL); the announcement was made by ABL President David Jabour. Bodnovich joined the ABL staff seven years ago, and served as Director of Communications & Public Affairs since 2008.

Bennigan’s Franchising Co. opened its first company-owned restaurant since filing for bankruptcy in July 2008. The Appleton, Wis., restaurant features a new logo and signage, a centerpiece bar with 18 beers on tap, 180 seats and entertainment options including dartboards, video gaming systems like Wii Bowling and interactive pay-at-table technology. The restaurant also features light wood throughout, and 20 high definition televisions, as well as new menu items.


Landry’s Inc. acquired the 32-unity Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. This is the third restaurant company Landry’s has acquired this year; the 45-unit Claim Jumper chain and the 12-unit Oceanaire Seafood Room were both purchased out of bankruptcy.
