Manhattan's 15 Hottest Restaurants: Where to Eat Right Now

Source: Eater

More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? Restaurant obsessives want to know what's new, what's hot, which favorite chef just launched a sophomore effort, what Michael White is up to these days. And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the "it" places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heatmap, which will change continually to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.

Dave Pasternack, the Crudo King of New York City, recently opened this stylish Chelsea seafood restaurant with LDV Hospitality's John Meadow. Pasternack's menu has 11 crudo plates, plus seafood antipasti, three pasta dishes, grilled fish, and a handful of meat entrees. A six-item "crudo tasting" is also available for $30. This is a good restaurant to keep in mind for date night.

After months of delays, Jim Caiola and David Salama opened their total revamp of the legendary Tavern on the Green space last month. The Tiffany glass and crystal chandeliers of the old Tavern have been replaced by earth tones, dark wood, and puffy red and green banquettes. There are no white tablecloths here. So far, early diners have great things to say about the menu of New American fare from chef Katy Sparks, and, thankfully, the new Tavern is not out to gouge you — many of the entrees are in the mid-20s, and the menu includes an $18 cheeseburger.
