The Original Jersey Shore Beer Takes Distribution to a New Level

Point Pleasant, NJ  -- After taking distribution of their beer throughout the entire state of New Jersey, co-founders of East Coast Beer Co. – the parent company of Beach Haus Classic American Pilsner – have taken their distribution strategy to the next level. As of the beginning of May, the original Jersey Shore craft beer company teamed up with Gretz Beer Co. and Gretz Distributing to begin distribution of their beer in Southeast Pennsylvania. This is just the first step in their long-term plan to have distribution throughout the Keystone State.

“We have been working diligently for the last six months to set this in motion,” said John Merklin, co-founder of East Coast Beer Co. and Beach Haus Classic American Pilsner. “Of course being available in Bucks and Montgomery counties is only the first stage in our plan.”

“Over the course of the next year, we not only anticipate having a much wider distribution chain throughout the state of Pennsylvania, but also have our beer distributed in New York as well,” added Brian Ciriaco, the other co-founder of East Coast Beer Co. and Beach Haus Classic American Pilsner.

Since its launch late August of 2010, Beach Haus Classic American Pilsner has far exceeded the expectations of John and Brian. The warm reception and feedback from consumers and the entire New Jersey Beer market has proven to the new company, that Beach Haus is in the ‘Haus’ and still growing. Although the delayed launch threw a wrench in their plans of a summer launch, they still managed to come onto the Shore scene with style, making their debut more successful than they anticipated. With the same hopes and principles, the duo plan to do the same thing with their beer in a new market.

A story all on its own, Brian and John’s journey began in 2007 when they launched their entrepreneurial spirit into full-drive, after deciding to leave their hi-tech careers and develop a craft beer evocative of the shore and its style – Beach Haus® Classic American Pilsner.

The idea to launch a beer specific to the Jersey Shore came to John when he was on a business trip in early 2007. Reading Beer School: Bottling Success at the Brooklyn Brewery by Steve Hindy and Tom Potter, founders of Brooklyn Brewery, John had an illuminating discovery – the Jersey Shore, home to a population of almost two million residents where numbers swell to five times that in some cities during the summer months had no regional beer of its own; something he found to be positively preposterous. By the time his flight had landed, he was certain that divine intervention had taken place and it was his destiny to create this regional beer and a company to support it.

Similar to his new found idols at the Brooklyn Brewery, John could think of no one else other than his long-time friend and high school comrade, Brian, to set out on this mission to create a beer that was reflective of their home region of the Jersey Shore.

After a three-year refining process, they were ready to share their passion with the rest of the world, or at least New Jersey initially. Beach Haus® Classic American Pilsner is a true American product; a pre-prohibition style pilsner, made with all American ingredients, including Mt. Hood Hops
