Pernod Ricard USA Re-joins The Century Council

Pernod Ricard USA, the premium spirits and wine supplier in the U.S., is pleased to announce it will re-join The Century Council -- a distiller-supported, not-for-profit organization focused on fighting drunk driving and underage drinking --  effective January 1, 2010.
“As one of the premier marketers of beverage alcohol brands in the United States, we are aware of the critical importance of providing accurate, relevant and timely information to the public about appropriate alcohol consumption,” said Paul Duffy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Pernod Ricard USA.
Pernod Ricard USA’s “Accept Responsibility” campaign will continue in tandem with the company-renewed support of Century Council programming.  Over the past three years, the company invested several million dollars in its campaign, which has combined advertising in major, national print and social media outlets with a dedicated responsibility Web site, public service announcements that have aired on television more than 1,000 times, and ongoing publicity and permission-based emails.  Targeting the issues of underage drinking, drinking and driving and binge drinking, “Accept Responsibility” has reached an estimated audience of more than 200 million.
Pernod Ricard withdrew from The Century Council in 2006 based on disagreements over tactical executions and administrative procedures.
Said Duffy: “We look forward to working again with The Century Council, which has an 18-year track record of continuing success.  Together, as an industry, we are confident of making important progress in addressing the major, social issues surrounding responsible alcohol consumption.”
