Sky Ranch Celebrates 50 Years

On June 6 and 7, Sky Ranch for Boys in Deadwood, S.D., celebrated its 50th anniversary and held the 19th annual Sky Ranch Hall of Fame Dinner, honoring six people who represent the Ranch’s mission and have contributed to its overall success.

Special pioneer recognition went to honorees Nancy Brady, president of Sky Ranch for Boys and executive secretary at Rapid City Area Hospitality Association, and Bill Walsh, owner of Dakota Travel and Director of Sky Ranch for Boys. Tom Cole, president of Republic National Distributing Co., was named wholesale tier honoree, while supplier tier honors went to John Esposito, president of Bacardi USA. The Allied Organizations honoree was Tobin Thomas, national vice president of WAABI and inventory planning manager for Beam Global Spirits & Wine. Finally, Harry Wiles, executive director of American Beverage Licensees, was recognized as the top retail tier honoree.

The beverage alcohol industry has supported Sky Ranch by providing approximately 25 percent of the facility’s budget to the 3,000-acre working ranch and licensed special education school to help troubled boys aged 12-17 throughout the U.S. since its inception in 1960.
