Sparkling Fourth of July Libations

The Fourth of July means freedom, America, apple pies, et al. Patriotism reigns supreme when the summer holiday comes along, and what provokes the American spirit more than American spirits. From bourbon to vodka to the flavors and colors--think red, white and blue hues--July 4 cocktails that attract guests are those that highlight the United States’ best qualities. Celebrate Independence Day with creative cocktails that evoke the true American essence.

Sparkling Rouge Cosmopolitan

1½ oz. vodka
¾ oz. Cointreau
¾ oz. Cascal Ripe Rouge Soft Drink
½ oz. fresh lime juice

Shake vodka, Cointreau and fresh lime juice with ice. Add Cascal and stir gently. Strain into glass. Garnish with an orange peel.



Rockets Red Glare

2 parts whiskey
1 part sparkling wine
2 parts Berrie iX Mixer

Serve over ice and garnish with a strawberry.



Star Spangled Slushy

1 cup strawberries
½ cup ice
2 oz. Iceberg Vodka
4 oz. Ocean Spray
White cranberry peach juice
Strawberry, for garnish

Place strawberries, ice, Iceberg Vodka and juice in a blender. Blend until smooth and pour into a tall glass. Garnish with a strawberry.



A Summer Sour

½ oz. Bulleit Rye
¾ oz. orange juice
¾ oz. lemon juice
½ oz. simple syrup
½ oz. amaretto

Shake ingredients and strain into an ice filled tumbler. Garnish with orange and cherry.




Patriotic Cooler

1 ½ oz. Van Gogh Cool Peach Vodka
1 oz. Pomegranate juice
2 oz. Ginger Ale or Ginger Beer

Build all ingredients over ice into a rocks glass.  Garnish with a lime wedge.



The Peg Leg Punch

1 bottle of Brugal Extra Dry Rum
2 oz. Highland Park 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky
2 oz. Gran Classico Bitters
8 oz. Cocchi Americano
2 oz. Agave syrup
6 oz. fresh squeezed orange juice
6 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
6 to 8 slices of orange rind
6 to 8 slices of lemon rind

Pour all ingredients into large pitcher and add ice, chill for at least an hour, sweeten to taste. Top off with Champagne, and serve with an orange and lemon rind in chilled rocks glass with one large cube of ice. Serves 15 to 20 people.
