Twin Liquors Owners Issue Statement On Federal Raid
A federal search warrant was served to Twin Liquors on Tuesday, according to several law enforcement agencies. Dexter Jones, an assistant chief with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, said the agency is involved in a joint operation with other federal and state agencies at liquor stores' headquarters. No further details were available from TABC since it's an open investigation. Employees said the agents arrived around 11 a.m. and told everyone to go home. MORE>>

The Cheesecake Factory Reports Results for First Quarter of Fiscal 2013
The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated (NASDAQ: CAKE) today reported financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2013, which ended on April 2, 2013.  Total revenues were $463.0 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2013 as compared to $435.8 million in the prior year first quarter. Net income and diluted net income per share were $25.3 million and $0.47, respectively, in the first quarter of fiscal 2013.  MORE>>

Impact Databank: Upscale Brands Drive Bourbon’s U.S. Growth

With the U.S. market’s whisk(e)y renaissance in full swing, the Bourbon category expanded by 650,000 cases last year, rising an aggregate 4% to 16.8 million cases, according to Impact Databank. Among the seven biggest Bourbon brands in the U.S., only two labels declined last year, Early Times and Old Crow, both at the value end of the category. MORE>>

Pernod Ricard posts 2.4% rise in quarterly sales
French drinks group Pernod Ricard reported on Thursday a 2.4 percent sales increase in the third quarter of its 2012/13 financial year and confirmed its target for a rise in full-year operating profit of almost six percent. Pernod, which owns a wide range of brands including The Glenlivet, Jameson, Chivas and Ballantine's whiskies and Mumm champagne, said that sales rose to 1.743 billion euros ($2.27 billion) in the three months to March 31, and added that in the first nine months of its year they totalled 6.65 billion euros, mainly owing to strong demand in China, India and Russia. Global appetite for Heineken slips
Shares in Heineken dropped after the Dutch brewer reported that global appetite for its beer had fallen in the first quarter compared with a year earlier. The results came as a surprise for the markets after the group’s strong performance in the fourth quarter last year. The world’s third-largest brewer by revenue saw its sales rise 8 per cent year-on-year to €4.15bn, but that was largely down to its acquisition last year of Asia Pacific Breweries, maker of Tiger beer.
