ClA(C)ment Introduces Two New Expressions in the US Market

With the explosive gain in interest towards “Agricole”-style Rums of late, Rhum Clément, one of the leading producers of AOC Martinique Rhum Agricole, is answering the call and adding two exquisite rums to its current US portfolio.

Considered the fundamental opposite of industrial rum distilled from molasses, a by-product of sugar production, the making of Rhum Agricole begins with the finest selection of sugarcane, which is pressed to extract fresh sugarcane juice, and then fermented and distilled to produce the end product.  As a result, Rhum Agricole is highly regarded for its distinctive terroir driven quality.  Unlike molasses-based rums, Rhum Agricole production must also adhere to the strict standards set forth by the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée of Martinique, an agricultural standard of quality that guarantees certain consistencies of excellence.

Habitation Clément, long considered the birthplace of Rhum Agricole, continues to respect this time-honored tradition, and is dedicated to preserving its long-standing heritage, while incorporating modern techniques to move the category forward.  Now, following the successful development of the Rhum Agricole category in the United States and the evolving trends of the cocktail generation, Clément USA is pleased to announce the newest members of the Clément portfolio: CLEMENT CANNE BLEUE and CLEMENT SELECT BARREL.

CLEMENT CANNE BLEUE is an exceptional white rhum crafted from the intensely aromatic fresh juice extracted from one unique varietal of sugarcane: Canne Bleue. After distillation, Canne Bleue is slowly reduced over time with distilled spring water to 50% abv. creating a remarkable well-integrated full-bodied white Rhum Agricole, loaded with earthy character and stone fruit flavor, unlike any other rum in the world. CLEMENT SELECT BARREL is aged three years in previously used French oak barrels that are selected for their rich natural sweetness and intense aromatic qualities. Re-using particular oak the Clément Cellar Master has favored, results in a magnificent aged Rhum Agricole with well-balanced sweetness and a lighter oak profile, by capturing the last highpoint of the barrel. Its soft vanilla notes and remarkable smooth finish characterize Clément Select Barrel, evident simply with ice and suited as a mixing aged rum. Select Barrel
