Kenwood Vineyards Releases Refreshing Duo for Summer

Kenwood Vineyards has just released two whites for summer: the 2011 Kenwood Vintage White Wine and the 2010 Kenwood Russian River Valley Gewürztraminer. Fresh, vibrant and delicious, either solo or with food, they are cool whites perfect for summer enjoyment.

The 2011 Kenwood Vintage White Wine blends premium grapes from Sonoma County and beyond to achieve beguiling character and Kenwoodexceptional value. Bottled early to preserve its fresh, youthful character, the blend of 68% barrel fermented Chardonnay, 30% stainless steel fermented Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Pinot Gris and 1% Muscat is generous, polished and uncommonly appealing. In contrast, the 2010 Kenwood Vineyards Russian River Valley Gewurztraminer is produced exclusively with Gewurztraminer grapes from the Russian River Valley, a very cool growing region whose climate brings out the best in this unique grape. Fermented in stainless steel, but “stopped” with a trace of residual sugar remaining to give the wine an off-dry finish, it is a classic Gewurztraminer – distinctive, balanced and almost impossible to resist.

The 2011 Kenwood Vineyards Vintage White displays delightful aromas of key lime, lemon, peach and vanilla. Vibrant key lime and lemon flavors are backed by subtle vanilla and honey notes. Zesty and refreshing, with a crisp finish that clears the palate for whatever comes next, this easy-drinking white can be enjoyed on its own or paired with summer fare like chips and dip, salad, antipasto, cheese and shellfish. With 8,800 cases produced, the 2011 Kenwood Vineyards Vintage White Wine is readily available nationally.

Distinctive aromas of fresh lychee, Mandarin orange and lemon, along with a hint of cumin, distinguish the 2010 Kenwood Vineyards Russian River Valley Gewurztraminer. Lychee and lemon highlight the fresh, vivacious flavors. Delicately off-dry, it displays moderate weight and generous acidity, both of which enhance the long, balanced finish. Served chilled, this Gewurztraminer is a delicious aperitif, and an equally fine accompaniment to spicy Chinese and Thai dishes. Due to limited production, the 2010 Kenwood Vineyards Russian River Valley Gewurztraminer primarily is available at the Kenwood Vineyards tasting room or through the Kenwood Vineyards website,
