Today we celebrate National Anisette Day!
Anisette is a liqueur made from anise seeds that is known for its sweet flavor. It has been said, on more than one occasion, that if you are a black licorice lover, then you will feel the same way about anisette.
Anisette originated in France but is most popular in the Mediterranean. This spirit was made to replace absinthe, another drink made from the anise seed, when it was banned for sale in certain parts in the world due to its high alcohol content.
There are a couple of ways you can serve anisette at your bar:
1. It can be diluted with water so it forms a milky white consistency
2. It can be used as an ingredient for mixed drinks.
3. Served straight, of course, but be sure to warn your customers to drink slowly because it has been known to give a bit of a burn.

1 part Cognac
1 part Anisette
1 part Egg Yolk
1 Part Orange Curacao
Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
