Thrashina Meets Fashion

New York City’s Stone Rose Lounge offered two unique events back-to-back this fall, hosting extreme skateboarders and fashionistas all at Skatersthe same Upper West Side address.

During Thrashin’ Week, the lounge built a special miniature ramp to accommodate the city’s most notable skateboarders. Sponsored by Red Bull Sept. 7-10, the four-day event featured different musical performers and signature cocktails nightly, as well as a family friendly session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 10. Kids of all ages came to watch pro skaters ollie and tailslide while picking up some gnarly tips.

Miraculously, the staff dove into action immediately following Thrashin’ Week to make room for Daily Style Sessions during Fashion Week, held Sept. 8-15, transforming the space into an exclusive spa retreat. Luxury beauty treatments, gifts from elite fashion and technology brands, a media center and live performances from today’s most anticipated artists were all free. The event’s signature cocktails included the Gimlet Grind (Ciroc Coconut, sour mix, lime juice, simple syrup and basil), the McTwist-ed Martini (Bombay Sapphire, grapefruit juice, simple syrup and basil) and the Spicy Stiletto (Herradura Silver Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and jalapeno).

“Stone Rose Lounge has always generated considerable private-event business,” offers Raphael Chejade-Bloom, director of marketing and entertainment. “That’s great for our bottom line but sends a mixed message to our guests if we close our doors too often. Consistency is the No. 1 priority in every aspect of our business and a close second is taking an inclusive approach with our guests.”
