Bio:

An attorney licensed in New York and Massachusetts, Marlo found her true calling when she literally fell into a job in hospitality PR. Her first client was Starbucks Coffee Company, handling PR for the chain as they expanded throughout New England, followed quickly by XV Beacon Hotel and its restaurant, The Federalist, one of the earliest entries into the boutique hotel category. Four and a half years later, in 2004, she founded marlo marketing with four core clients, including Starbucks, the Nantucket Wine Festival, and a handful of independent restaurants. Today marlo marketing is a full-service integrated marketing agency with a core focus in the hospitality, lifestyle, and CPG industries.

Marlo and her in-house team of creatives, marketers, and publicists work in multiple ways with clients ranging from independent restaurants and hotels, developers, management companies, multi-unit owner operators, and publicly-traded QSR concepts, providing a la carte services as well as a completely outsourced CMO/Marketing Department alternative to internal hires. For clients who desire to retain an in-house marketing department, the marlo team is often engaged to audit roles, responsibilities, and scope efficiency.

Since opening its doors, the agency has won more than 30 communications industry awards for excellence across public relations, communications, branding, design, digital and social media. Marlo has also received numerous accolades and distinctions, including being recognized as one of Boston’s “40 Under 40” by the Boston Business Journal in 2006. She is a member of the 2007 class of the Emerging Leaders Program at the UMass – Boston and was named one of the seven most innovative Bostonians by BizBash magazine in 2011. In 2019, Marlo was awarded the Pinnacle Award for Achievement in Entrepreneurship by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and was selected as one of the 28 notables in Boston magazine’s cover story “The Powers That Will Be” in 2019; in 2023 and 2024 she was included in their list of “150 Most Influential Bostonians.”

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Marlo is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Boston University’s College of Arts & Sciences. She splits her time between Boston, New York City, and Palm Springs, California.
