Sean Finter
Hospitality Expert & Coach | TEDx Speaker
Bio:
Sean Finter’s journey in hospitality defies convention. Growing up in a small Canadian town, he started washing dishes at 12 and by 19 had moved to London in search of opportunity. At 27, he opened his first bar in Sydney, Australia, and within five years built an eight-venue group. With the birth of his second child, he sold his businesses to prioritize family life—but never left the industry.
Instead, Sean founded Barmetrix, a consultancy built on measurable performance systems. What started as one office grew to 26 across eight countries, helping more than 8,500 bar and restaurant teams worldwide. His book Business of Bars, developed with Diageo, became a global training tool, distributed as video courses in 50+ countries. Over two decades, Sean has taught his frameworks in person across 30+ nations.
What sets Sean apart is his ability to translate real operational experience into practical solutions. He blends stories from the frontlines with systems that drive results, empowering audiences in over 32 countries to build stronger teams, healthier businesses, and more memorable guest experiences. His style strips away complexity, giving hospitality leaders tools they can implement immediately to grow revenue, profit, and culture.
Today, Sean lives in Annapolis, Maryland with his fiance Ali and their dog Crosby. With his four kids grown, he continues to coach high-performing operators, serve on industry boards, and travel the globe to teach and mentor. His story is one of resilience, innovation, and the belief that hospitality—done with intention—is the most powerful differentiator in business.
